Driver involved in fatal hit and run faces 9 charges

Stephen Palacio has been on the run since this past Saturday evening when six year old Jose Garcia Junior was knocked down and killed at the intersection of Amara Avenue and King Street in Belize City. But today Palacio handed himself into the Belize City Police Traffic Unit and cops were waiting to greet him with a long list of offences. The charges include: Manslaughter by Negligence, Causing Death by Careless Conduct, Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License, Driving Without Due Care and Attention, Taking a Motor Vehicle Without the Consent of the Owner or Other Lawful Authority, Driving an Unlicensed Motor Vehicle, Using a Motor Vehicle not Covered by Third Party Insurance, Failing to Stop and Render Aid, and Failure to Report an Accident.
