Police and International Partners to Build Abuse Portal

In the coming weeks an initiative sponsored by a British organization in conjunction with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime will establish a portal through which instances of sexually explicit imagery of children found, seen or shared online can be reported.  There was a sensitization workshop organized on Friday by the Belize Police Department at the George Price Center in Belmopan. Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie, the Foundation’s Jenny Thornton and the U.N.O.D.C.’s Neil Walsh met with senior police officers and distinguished public officers from the relevant government ministries.  The portal is to be hosted on the Belize Police Department’s website. Reports will be investigated by British personnel and offending images removed.  A follow up meeting is scheduled within the next two weeks prior to the portal’s launch.
