Hattieville baby dies accidentally in drain

Another infant has died, apparently of an accident, this time in Hattieville. According to police, around 7:30 Monday morning the lifeless body of one year old Julia Avila was found in a drain not far from her home at mile seventeen on the Western Highway. Julia’s mother, nineteen year old Patricia Myvette, reported that around an hour earlier she had left for work, leaving the child in the care of her aunt. According to the aunt, she had locked the screen door, but apparently while she was in the bathroom the other children in the house opened it and Julia wandered into the yard. Exactly how the tragedy happened is under investigation by police. A post mortem was conducted this evening and the results are expected shortly.
