Death of child leads to suicide of dad

The accidental death of an infant in San Pedro has led to the suicide of the child’s father. Late Sunday night seventeen month old Osmin Rosa was eating some chicken and began to choke on a bone. His parents, nineteen year old Joycelyn Williams and twenty-five year old Luis Rosa, were unable to help the child and he was declared dead on arrival at the island’s Lions Clinic. Luis apparently grew despondent over the baby’s death and is reported to have blamed himself for the inability to save the child. It is not known when he took his own life, but the twenty-five year old ramp attendant for Tropic Air, was found around 9:30 Monday morning hanging from a rope in the watchman’s hut near that company’s maintenance hangar. Joycelyn Williams is left with a three month old baby. The family is originally from Punta Gorda.
