Jin Tian Chen pleads guilty to Handling Stolen Goods
Meanwhile, thirty year old businessman, Jin Tian Chen, pleaded guilty today to a charge of Handling Stolen Goods. Jin was found in possession of a laptop computer that was stolen from Ombudsman Cynthia Pitts’ office. Magistrate Rachel Montejo fined him one thousand, five hundred dollars and gave him until July thirtieth to pay or serve one year behind bars. Montejo also ordered that the computer be returned to the ombudsman. Jin’s wife, Jie Qiao Chen was charged jointly with him, but the charge was withdrawn after he pleaded guilty. The businessman was busted with the computer on May twentieth, when police were tipped off and went to Jin’s residence where they found Pitts’ laptop.
