Belize City P.U.P.’s Manifesto to be Launched
On Thursday, Belize City’s P.U.P. slate will gather at the Neal Pen Road basketball court to publicly launch their manifesto. But we got a bit of a preview from mayoral candidate Bernard Wagner after his nomination today. He explains that as part of a “people-centered” agenda the P.U.P. aims for financial reform in order to build more capital projects.
Bernard Wagner, P.U.P. Mayoral Candidate
“Clearly, we are about the people; that’s the platform that we are running on. We continue to pivot on that platform that we are about the people; we will drive programs that put people first. Infrastructure is good, it drives the economy, it drives economic development, but we can’t forget the social fabric; we can’t forget the people. We want to begin to usher in an era of fiscal management; we can’t continue to depend on government. Government is good, the subvention is good but we have to begin to carry our own weight as a Council. That will be one of our clear goals, to begin to produce budget surpluses which we can fund capital projects.”
We’ll have more from the manifesto launch in Thursday’s newscast.
