D.P.P. Now Leads the Bar
At its executive meeting on Wednesday night, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Cheryl-Lynn Vidal moved up as new the president of the association where she was serving as VP. From our records, it is first time that we see a D.P.P. take up the mantle as Bar President. It is bound to be an interesting period since the Bar and the bench have not always seen eye and eye and there is uncertainty as to whether the Chief Justice will stick around given a job offer in his native Guyana. Vidal succeeds Priscilla Banner who had held the top post for two terms. The new Vice President is Roberta Magnus, Jose Alpuche was returned as Treasurer, Iliana Swift is the Secretary, and Bar Committee members are Natalia Bevans, Leslie Mendez and Gavin Courtenay.
