Visa Issues Also a Concern
It was reported some time ago that the U.S. had canceled the visas of officers of various ranks for their alleged involvement in illegal activities. So does the most recent ban also affect the visa status of the blacklisted officers and their ability to travel to the United States?
Wilfred Elrington, Minister of Home Affairs
“I am not aware that the designation which makes it not possible for them to participate in programs sponsored by the United States government also disqualifies them from having a visa or causes that visa, if they have it, to be cancelled. I did not go that far to inquire whether that is the case. I don’t think that that is the case but I am not certain. But I do know that as far as participating in programs sponsored by the United States government with the United States government’s funds, those people who they deem have fallen afoul of the criteria which they have set for being able to participate in their programs are not allowed to participate.”
