Housing for the Poor is Not for the Government

Anthony “Boots” Martinez

Minister “Boots” Martinez carefully distinguished between the non-governmental organization Housing for the Poor and the Southside Poverty Alleviation Project, the former of which Kirk Lamb claimed he deposited monies given to him for. The Minister says he is, as far as he knows, not aware that Lamb did any contract work for the N.G.O., but is on record with the project.

Anthony “Boots” Martinez, Area Rep., Port Loyola

“Housing for the Poor is an N.G.O. group, existed from since 1995, and they do community service and they also do work privately and that’s a separate entity.”

Aaron Humes

“So despite the name it doesn’t actually build houses for people?”

Anthony “Boots” Martinez

“They do community work and they build houses for people and help people repair houses. Whatsoever they do in terms of whatsoever kind of [fundraising] opportunity the group gets, they use the profit to help people within the community, especially along the housing line.”

Aaron Humes

“My point being that that would operate under a different set…”

Anthony “Boots” Martinez

“Very different, they have their own Board of Directors and everything.”

Aaron Humes

“So they would handle their own issues with contracts and so on. And as far as you know he was never a contractor for them?”

Anthony “Boots” Martinez

“No, no, no. Well, I wouldn’t know, but as far as I know.”
