Maskall baby critical after devastating sexual molestation; one held
We start the news tonight with a sickening report of the rape of a toddler. The seventeen-month old girl is clinging to life at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. The child’s twenty-one year old stepfather from the village of Maskall, Belize District allegedly raped the infant. Because of the sensitivity of the incident few details can be provided about the utterly disturbing attack on the innocent child. But this is what we can say; the baby was taken to the K.H.M.H. with bruises across her little body. Earlier in the day, the child’s caretaker who is the grandmother of the alleged rapist left the toddler in his care to come to Belize City where the child’s mother also works. On her return to the village he told her that the child was not well and having convulsions. The baby was taken to the clinic in Maskall Village and then rushed to the K.H.M.H. on Wednesday evening where the bruises and assault were detected. There is information that the stepfather moved in with the mother a few months ago in the village and the baby is her only child. Police are presently investigating this heinous crime and are holding the stepfather. Here’s what they told the media today.

“Yesterday, sometime after 5 in the evening, police were called to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, along with Department of Human Services, and upon making checks at the Hospital they were informed that there was a minor with several bruises to the body and apparently the minor had been sexually molested. The minor had to be rushed to the IC Unit because of the condition the minor was in. They were not in a position to do no medical examination; however, we know that the minor is still presently admitted in the pediatric ward in a critical condition at the KHMH. This minor is from Maskall Village.”
