Bus driver charged in cyclist’s death
In other police news, a bus driver has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal traffic accident last Friday. Fifty-seven year old Randolph Coleman will face charges of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention. Coleman was driving a bus on the Stann Creek Valley Road around four on Friday afternoon, when near mile eight and a half, he says he overtook two cyclists. But seconds later, he heard a loud noise coming from the back of the bus. When the driver got out to investigate, he found twenty-nine year old Jose Amilcar Garcia under the vehicle suffering from serious head and body injuries. Garcia was rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital, but died while undergoing treatment. Both the driver and victim are from Hope Creek Village in the Stann Creek District.
