P.U.P. and Chamber break bread on budget
As he announced on Monday, Opposition Leader John Briceño met with the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday. The Chamber has complained of being frozen out of discussions with the government as a social partner on the forthcoming Budget. It has raised concerns of how the government will address its economic plans and tackle emerging issues such as crime. Briceño has said the P.U.P. will be incorporating these views into its own response to the budget.

“We had a meeting with the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry, just to talk to them about the upcoming Budget presentation which is going to be next week Friday. We presented our views and then they shared their concerns: the concern of corruption in government; the concern of no economic plan; the issue of taxation and the issue of crime. And these are issues that are affecting every single Belizean on a daily basis.”
