2 Dead in Red Bank Collision
Two men were killed in a road traffic accident on Sunday night. Around eight-fifteen p.m., James Andrews and Michael Martinez were behind the wheels in separate vehicles travelling in opposite directions when they collided into each other near the Red Bank Junction in southern Belize. Two other persons travelling with Martinez were treated and released for minor injuries. Andrews is a well-known dive master of the Independence – Placencia area and Martinez was an A.C. Technician in Santa Cruz. Police tells us more.

“Police form that formation responded to a road traffic accident between miles thirty-two and thirty-three on the southern highway at the Red Bank Junction. There they found forty-eight-year-old James Andrews of Independence Village and forty-one-year-old Michael Martinez of Santa Cruz Village on the scene apparently dead. Investigations from police indicate that Mister Andrews who was driving an Astro van coming from the direction of Santa Cruz heading to Independence and Mister Martinez heading in the opposite direction collided and that resulted – both were drivers of each vehicle – and they collided head on sustained severe head and body injuries and they succumbed to those injuries. With Mister Martinez were two other persons, Mister Galish and Rogelio Lopez. They were taken to the clinical in Independence and were treated and released.”
