Family Wants to Speak with Police

Prior to being arraigned before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford, Everal Martinez was charged with deadly use of harm on Friday evening.  The single count was presumably a holding charge, a temporary indictment to keep Martinez in custody until this morning when the more substantive charges were preferred.  While there were many at the protest earlier today who were not confident in the initial charge, Terrence Martinez did not get an opportunity to confer with police about the charges.

Voice of: Terrence Nunez, Father of Deceased

“We haven’t sit down and spoke with the police just as yet, we’re still awaiting their presence but we did do something little interviews over at the Ladyville Police Station trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together because everybody is so devastated.  I know Belize is so in a state whereby they want justice and everything, so I as the father, I’m just here to provide justice for my baby.”

Reporter

“Did they say at the time though whether sexual abuse charges would follow?”

Voice of: Terrence Nunez

“They didn’t bring it to our attention.”

We’ll have more coverage on Baby Alyssa later in the newscast.
