B.T.L. bad wire disconnects Belize City from west
Hundreds of frustrated telephone customers suffered through most of the day as efforts to call Belmopan, Benque Viejo and all points in between proved fruitless. According to sales representatives of Belize Telecommunications Limited, sometime after eleven this morning, a fibre connecting Belize City and the west malfunctioned. Technicians were immediately dispatched to remedy the problem and as we went to air tonight B.T.L. says that all services are back to normal. As for the exact cause of the breakdown in the system, News 5 understands personnel from the Ministry of Works inadvertently cut through the fibre cables near the Beaver Dam Bridge.
