Charlys Nunez is the “Master of the Floor”

Story PictureAnd the Master of the Floor is… a deafening scream came from an overflowing Church Street Yaad crowd when Charlys ‘Ninja’ Nunez was announced the grand dance champion. After twelve weeks of competition, Nunez out performed thirteen other dancers to become the Masters of the Floor—from the Street Lights to the Stage Lights—title holder. The finale ended with a bang when Nunez and the two other finalists: Sheldon Bodden and Sidney Tucker gave breath-taking and exhilarating performances hoping to win the most text votes. On Saturday, Nunez walked away with the grand prize of five thousand dollars while Bodden earned one thousand five hundred for his second place finish and Tucker one thousand dollars for finishing third. Today, News Five caught up with Charlys who told us that he is overwhelmed with his win.

“Well it feels very good because I competed against the best and it was lot of work.”

“What did you learn throughout the twelve weeks of competition?”

Charlys Ninja Nunez
“Well I learn a lot. The competition made me grow and made me stronger. After all I competed against the best—the two best from the competition and I won. So it felt good.”

Duane Moody
“Did you feel that you were going to win the competition?”

Charlys Ninja Nunez
“Yes. Because my voters they have my back so I yeah, had high self esteem. I really want to go back to school and that’s why I entered the competition.”

Duane Moody
“And now that Masters of the Floor is finished, what can the public, your voters, expect of you as a master of the floor?”

Charlys Ninja Nunez
“It won’t be the last time they will see me. They will see me everyday. Well, every time I go perform I wah mek they see me because da they mek I win. So I can’t let they down—I wah deh right there so fi deh.”

Duane Moody
“Any advice to people who might maybe want to do what you do, you know, become a master of the floor?”

Charlys Ninja Nunez
“Well if they wahn do it? Mek they do it. No mek nobody hold they back. Cause if da so they feel, meek they go and follow they dream cause da that da weh I do.”

All fourteen contestants received prizes including Digicell phone packages courtesy of Telemedia.
