Public provides help for blind baby
On Friday, we introduced you to five month old Noel Reina, blinded by a severe eye condition and in desperate need of financial help for corrective surgery. Tonight, we are pleased to report that several businesses and private individuals have generously contributed to help give Noel the gift of sight. According to the baby’s paediatrician, Dr. Miguel Rosado, Home Protector Insurance has donated fifteen hundred dollars, the cost of one of the surgeries; Grupo TACA has provided a round-trip ticket to Guatemala City where the ophthalmology unit is located; Universal Health Services is treating the baby for his respiratory problems free of cost; and several members of the public, including Michelle Moody, Rita Leacock, Ambassador James Murphy, Deloitte and Touche and Minister of Human Development Dolores Balderamos Garcia have made monetary donations. Based on these contributions, Noel and his mother are scheduled to leave on Wednesday for Guatemala. If you would like to assist Noel Reina, please make a deposit at any branch of Alliance Bank. The account number is 501304. On behalf of the Reinas, we would like to thank all those who helped Noel begin to receive the treatment he so desperately needs.
