Two weekend robberies in Belize City
In crime news from the city, police are looking for several thieves involved in separate robberies over the weekend. Around nine-thirty on Friday morning, two men, one brandishing a handgun, walked into the office of St. John’s Cathedral on Rectory Lane and demanded money. The cashier handed over approximately seven hundred and ninety dollars in cash and several checks made out to the cathedral. The men then made their escape.
On Saturday, two tourists walking on Gabourel Lane were robbed at knife point by three men. The stolen cash and jewellery are estimated to be worth some six hundred Belize dollars. At news time tonight, no arrests had been made in either case.
