Police: man was drunk, jumped off bridge

Police press officer, G. Michael Reid says the department is looking into the family’s allegations, but says so far, their investigation has revealed nothing out of the ordinary.

“We will do a thorough investigation to find out what exactly occurred. This man was obviously drunk, very drunk, which is the reason he was pulled in from the very beginning. We don’t know why he even attempted to escape or why he jumped into the water. But I have been given advice from medical people a long time ago that if you are drunk, or if you’ve been drinking, stay away from water.”

“We offer condolences to the family. It’s unfortunate whenever there’s a loss of life and certainly we’re gonna do everything we can to get to the bottom of it, if there is anything more than what has been suggested here.”

According to Reid, late this afternoon, a post-mortem conducted on the body revealed Guillermo Montejo died as a result of drowning.
