Fuller lashes out at U.D.P. leadership
The U.D.P. said that Sydney Fuller was actively supporting his newly imposed successor in the Albert Division. But ever since Fuller publicly disavowed his agreement to be dumped, the United Democratic Party has had a tiger by the tail. Today Fuller told News 5’s Marion Ali that not only is he unhappy with his ouster, but he will not be lending any support to his replacement, Marilyn Williams.
Sydney Fuller, Former UDP Standard Bearer, Albert Div.
“I normally do things with the consultation of the voters of the Albert. I’ve touched base with some of them already and they are not in agreement with what happened, so therefore I have and I will not render any support for the replacement.”
Marion Ali
“Have you given any thought to running independently in the division?”
Sydney Fuller
“Some indications are leaning to that from the voters. When I’m through walking the division, that’s when I’ll be able to determine whether I’ll run independent or not.”

But while Fuller is not yet sure about the future of his candidacy, he is sure about one thing: that there’s no deep dark secret that the U.D.P. or anyone else can use to control him.
Sydney Fuller
“There’s nothing I have to hide. What I know happened since 1999, I’ve been denied a shrimp trawl license and I received one on October eighteenth. I’m now in possession of that and I can now operate. Because of that though, I was unable to meet certain requirements with a loan institution and I think that’s what they want to hold over me. But there’s nothing there because I had everything done through my other bank to have those things taken care of. But they continue and maintain to carry on with that. But there is nothing left to hide, I have nothing to hide from the people.”
Marion Ali
“So you’re saying now that that has been cleared.”
Sydney Fuller
“That has almost been cleared, it’s being taken care of.”
Marion Ali for News 5.
Various U.D.P. spokesmen have not hesitated to publicly hint that Fuller was dumped because of some serious personal problems, but they then go on to say that it would not be right to delve into the details. Apparently, those problems were not serious enough to keep him from running in–and winning–the August twenty-sixth, 2001 convention.
