Robbers hit Dangriga gas station
Police in Dangriga are investigating a robbery that occurred at a gas station in that town last night. Attendant at the Esso Havana Service Station, twenty-six year old Patricio Teul, says he was waiting for his boss to return sometime around nine o’clock in order to close up shop. He was inside the office along with a friend when he noticed two dark skinned masked men running towards the entrance door. He adds that the men, who spoke Creole, pulled out handguns and demanded the day’s sales, at which point he opened the cash register and handed over about a thousand dollars in cash and one hundred and fifty dollars in cheques. He said the men then escaped into the night on foot. Police have no suspects at this time.
In other crime news, two Belize City men who reportedly fired shots at each other, face charges of attempted robbery and aggravated assault. Avon Fuller and Eric Savery, each claim to have been shot at on Saturday. Savery alleges that he was on George Street at around eleven p.m. when Fuller rode toward him, firing shots as he passed. For his part, Fuller claims that Savery had committed the same discourtesy earlier on the same day. Viewers will recall that Savery’s house on West Canal was the target of a shooting about a month ago. In that incident, his twelve year old nephew was hit by a bullet in the hip as he slept.
