Brian Welch Avoids Death
Aside from the murders, there were two shootings in the south side of Belize City. Two persons are currently in police custody pending further investigation into a late evening shooting in Belize City on Saturday. Thirty-year-old Brian Welch remains hospitalized at the K.H.M.H. following a shooting on Gibnut Street. Welch was hit to the chest and arm after he was accosted by two men. Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo says that the shooting was not gang-related.

“Mister Welch was walking on Gibnut Street heading towards Curassow Street when two male persons approached him from the direction of Dolphin Street into Curassow on a motorcycle and one of the passengers fired several shots at his direction causing the abovementioned injuries. Police for this investigation have since detained two persons that are being questioned at this moment.”

“So is it the result of feuding between persons or is ti a gang rivalry?”

“There is no indication that it is any gang rivalry. We know that he is from a Belama area on the north side. He just frequent6s this area now and again, but he has no affiliations on this side.”
