G.O.B. Going Ahead with Section 53 Appeal for Now
Also in the court, when the Catholic Church exited the Court of Appeal case last month concerning the momentous decision on amending the Criminal Code to decriminalize private relations between persons of the same sex, it was felt the end might be near. According to case claimant Caleb Orozco, Government was getting pressure to drop the case as an academic exercise. But so far it appears not to be bending. Solicitor General Nigel Hawke said today that for now at least, he plans to go it alone.

“As far as I am aware, the instructions that I have so far – and that has not changed – is that we will continue with that partial appeal; we are pursuing it. We know the churches are out, but as far as I am instructed, I am to continue the appeal.”
A case management conference is officially set for June ahead of the next hearing of the case.
