Attempted robbery leaves 2 traumatized, 1 detained
Meanwhile, a bizarre incident on the Maskall Road has left Sandhill police with more questions than answers. According to the cops, two employees of Bowen and Bowen, and their “muscle”: a K.B.H. security guard, were the victims of an attempted robbery, which one of them may have orchestrated. The trio had just left Maskall village for Belize City when the sideman requested a bathroom break near Corozalito village. But when the truck stopped, only the security guard got out and within minutes, a masked man with a gun attacked the guard. The driver, Manuel Corella, says he hit the gas, yelling at the security guard to hold onto the truck. The guard did, losing his service revolver in the process. And even though the would-be robber fired off a round, no one was hurt. But the scary scene doesn’t end there. Inside the truck, the sideman was demanding Corella stop the truck, when to his horror, Corella saw another masked man run towards them from the bush. And when he looked into his rear view mirror, he saw a small Toyota pickup apparently chasing them. Corella put the pedal to the metal all the way to the Sandhill Police Station. The suspicious sideman was immediately detained for questioning, but has yet to be charged. Police investigations into this incident continue.
