17-year-old loses battle to kidney disease
Three weeks ago we aired a story on Kenisha Usher, a seventeen year old patient at the K.H.M.H. struggling against the ravages of kidney failure. Tonight we regret to report that Kenisha died on October eighteenth at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Usher had been diagnosed with terminal renal failure and was receiving peritoenal dialysis at the hospital. Reports are that she died from complications brought on by the disease. Presently peritoenal dialysis is the only treatment that is available to kidney patients in Belize. However, today we were informed by Dr. Miguel Rosado, a nephrologist at Universal Health Services that a haemodialysis machine will come into service at U.H.S. by the end of November.
