RESTORE Belize Funding Gets Cut

During a run-down of programs in the “social ministries” – education, youth, sports, human development, housing and others – Trade Union Senator Elena Smith made note of a reduction in funding for RESTORE Belize. Established in 2010 in response to the attempted murder of Rodwell Williams and an attendant crime spree, it has been providing assistance to youth in the city. But it too felt the swing of the Government’s axe.

“RESTORE Belize program: we went down from one point one million to eight hundred thousand. And we are fully aware that RESTORE Belize has put forth some very good programs, I may say, and they have assisted a lot of students; yet the portion allotted to them has gone down.”
