Car collides into pickup in front of Old Belize

Meanwhile a Sunday morning accident near Old Belize has left one man hospitalized with serious injuries. According to reports, a red Pontiac car, heading west from Belize City around eight thirty a.m., slammed into a Dodge Ram Pick-up truck parked in front of Old Belize. The driver of the car, Edgar Reyes, sustained severe injuries and was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital but later transferred to Belize Healthcare Partners Limited. News Five spoke to Juan Magana, an eyewitness who works as a gate security officer at Old Belize, and he said he believes speed and poor road conditions contributed to the crash.

“I was at the gate when I hear the big sound. It was a big crash. I neva see it because ih cross di wire but I see this red car was coming sliding to Old Belize gate and that’s what I see alright.

“Apparently, it crashed into the dodge ram pickup that was parked here?”

“The pickup was parked right there by the culvert and the man was…”

“Putting his bicycle inside?”

“His bicycle up on the pickup and that’s all what I know.”

“The person inside this red Pontiac, he suffered serious injuries right?”

“This one had serious injuries, yes, very injured. I see the man; the man was in very bad condition.”

“Who took him out?”

Juan Magana
“They wait until the ambulance come, yeah, and the police then they carry him to the hospital. The one in the red Pontiac was coming very speedy, that’s why I think cause of the loose gravel, that caused the accident.”
