Truck robbed on Western Highway

Tonight, San Ignacio police are investigating reports of a robbery on the Western Highway. Police sources tell News 5 that two employees of Madisco Marketing and Distribution Company Limited, based in Belize City, allege that while making a delivery on Thursday afternoon in Georgeville, three masked men ambushed the truck and kidnapped them. The driver and sideman told the cops they drove to Blackman Eddy and then turned left onto the Spanish Lookout road. From there, the truck headed through to Santa Familia before parking on the Bullet Tree road. The alleged victims say they had to hand over their jewellery and the company cash box before the thieves made their escape on foot. Police are investigating.
