Hit and run claims life of teen

Tonight, family and friends of a teenager from Cayo are mourning his death after a fatal hit and run accident. Eighteen year old Glen Contreras was riding his bicycle on the side of the road near Camalote village on Thursday night when a dark coloured pickup with a wooden pan and a broken windshield, knocked him down. The vehicle did not stop, and despite the efforts of good Samaritans, Contreras was pronounced dead on arrival at the Belmopan hospital. A student of the Belize Christian Academy, Contreras, has been described by his peers as a well-liked young man, who had just celebrated his eighteenth birthday on Sunday.
