Cane farmers eligible for discount diesel
This week Belizean sugarcane farmers got a hand from Government for their next crop, by way of cheaper fuel. According to a press release, farmers will be able to buy more than one million gallons of fuel at a duty-free discount of two dollars a gallon. While it certainly makes other drivers a little jealous, the deal is designed to make the farmers save on transportation costs…freeing up that money to meet their operation costs and loan payments, as well as reinvest in their fields. G.O.B. estimates this tax break should save cañeros more than two point five million dollars.
