Officers of the Month to Collect Dibary Certificates

The Eastern Division South Commander also signed an agreement today with Whalther Campos of Dibary Group of Companies that will see the Officer of the Month starting April and for the rest of the year receive a five hundred-dollar gift certificate to shop at the business. Senior Superintendent Howell Gillett says the aim is to boost the morale of officers on the south side of Belize City.

“Dibary contacted us and volunteered to give a five hundred-dollar certificate for stuff that they sell at their store for any officer who becomes the officer of the month starting first April which has just gone up to the thirty-first of December. We signed a contract on that this morning, an agreement both with the owner and myself and we will try to renew that and try to create more partnerships within the communities to assist our officers. We want the idea of corruption—just to speak of it is bad—and police abuse, we want those to go away but we have to do our part to help the officers to do well with what they have and we have to try to assist them in any way. And the public is very supportive at the moment and we want to piggyback on that so that the officers have full benefits.”
