City Admin Plans Lawsuit over Suspension
City Administrator Candice Miller, we understand, is preparing to file suit against the Belize City Council, challenging her suspension from her duties. Miller was sent home on April fifth on a month’s suspension after being accused of dereliction of fiduciary duty. An ongoing investigation turned up transactions considered questionable, including a bill for food and drinks at a nearby Chinese restaurant from City Hall run up by former employee Joe Bradley which has not been paid. But Miller denies authorizing payment of Bradley’s bill. We are told that Miller’s attorneys have written City Hall demanding her suspension be lifted pending legal action as of Monday. Mayor Bernard Wagner was out of office today and did not respond to our calls seeking comment tonight. But it may get trickier for Miller because there are reports that she could be facing termination from her post when she returns from her suspension.
