Landing Was Illegal, says ComPol, but Police Still Investigating

The Commissioner of Police was also asked this afternoon about the suspected drug plane. While Minister of State Aragon was more forthcoming, ComPol Allen Whylie would only confirm that it was an illegal landing and that an investigation is ongoing.

“All I can say is that we receive information that a plane had landed on the Progresso Road. The police responded; they secured the area along with the B.D.F.  We didn’t find anyone. We have an ongoing investigation underway and the plane is still out there. We are working in terms of having the B.D.F. repair it and identifying a pilot to fly it back to the air wing where it will remain in custody.”

“Any progress being made as to where this plane originated from?”

“Well, it is an ongoing investigation. I am not the individual doing the investigation. It is too early, so I wouldn’t want to say if progress has been made or isn’t being made.”

“A suspected drug plane – is this the view of the department? That it was a plane carrying illegal products or materials on board?”

“Well, we don’t know what the contents are because we didn’t find the contents. So, that is why I say it is under investigation. We know it is an illegal landing; it is not a lawful landing where it landed is not an approved place. So, definitely it had to be involved in illicit activities.”
