Trio Still on the Run for Oscar Rosado Murder

Oscar Rosado Sr.

Businessman Oscar Rosado Senior was laid to rest today following funeral services in Belize City. But according to police, the hunt for his killers goes on. Three persons are sought in connection with the break-in at his construction store on Cemetery Road in which he was shot while coming to the aid of his wife, Elena. Police also say that the armed robbers attempted to retrieve Rosado Senior’s firearm, but got away with his wallet containing about one thousand dollars.  There were also at least ten shots fired outside the premises as the robbers made their getaway. But were the shots from police arriving on the scene or the robbers trying to clear a way out? C.I.B. Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino told News Five today that this is still under investigation.

“Now we understand that in the process of fleeing the scene of this crime, these three individuals came into contact with a pair of police officers in the vicinity of this incident and gunfire erupted. Can you speak to whether or not the officers were able to identify these three individuals, considering the fact that all three made good their escape?”

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, C.I.B., Belize City

“The investigation is ongoing and we are looking into whatever witnesses we have. I don’t have any details as regards any crossfire between any of the assailants and any officers.”

“Were the spent shells discovered on the scene of the shooting – this would be in front of the City Council office – would these be attributable to the police firing shots at the assailants or vice versa?”

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino

“I don’t have any details as to which weapon those expended shells came from. The investigation is ongoing.”
