Gaspar Vargas Stabbed Dead in San Pedro this Evening

There was also a mid-afternoon stabbing murder in San Pedro today which claimed the life of a fifty-seven-year-old construction worker of the San Mateo area of the island. Around two- p.m., Gaspar Vargas stabbed once to the abdomen as he socialized at his home. Police initial reports are that Vargas got into an argument with his son-in-law Jose Ricardo Mendoza, a thirty-five-year-old chef. The argument was over an old misunderstanding and police say that in the process, Mendoza allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed his father-in-law. Vargas was rushed to the San Pedro Polyclinic, but succumbed to his injury minutes later while undergoing surgery. Mendoza has since been detained pending further investigation.
