Two Guatemalans escape from prison work gang

In the first breakout since Hattieville Prison came under private management, two inmates are tonight on the loose. Two seventeen year old Guatemalans, Oscar Cardosa and Miguel Angel Gregorio, were working outside the prison compound on a labour gang on Tuesday morning when they slipped away from their supervisors. Although the two men carried machetes, prison authorities say they are not considered dangerous. Gregorio and Cardosa were both due to be released in April 2004. They are believed to be heading toward the Guatemalan border. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call the nearest police station.
