New wholesale and retail prices of flour announced
Monday’s drop of ten percent in the price of flour has brought some relief to consumers. And according to the Supplies Control Unit, the price on the twenty-four pound bag of La Gitana Soft Wheat Flour is now sixty-three dollars. In the City, the flour is now retailing at seventy-three cents per pound, in Belmopan and Orange Walk for seventy-four cents, in San Ignacio, Dangriga and Corozal for seventy-five cents, in Benque Viejo and Punta Gorda for seventy-six cents and in San Pedro, it is highest at seventy-eight cents. In respect of Bebe Agua Hard Wheat Flour, the wholesale price is seventy-six dollars per twenty-four pound sack while the Baker Flour will wholesale at seventy-seven dollars. Strict compliance is required and any breach in the controlled price, can lead to a fine of up to one thousand dollars, imprisonment of up to six months or both. And in respect to the reduction in the price of rice which we reported on Wednesday, the five cents drop per pound applies to Circle R Products.
