You may not be familiar with its name but for the past year since it was established, the Technical Vocational Education Training project, TVET, has been working towards its goal of establishing Centres for Employment Training.
Laura Flores, Assistant Director, TVET Project
“We have four operational CETs, and so ultimately at the end of the project we would have seven operational CETs and they will be providing training for all levels in five different areas specifically. And these programmes will be based on the demands of the different economic region, different economic activities in the regions.”
Today, TVET’s management met with the various stakeholders in an effort to discuss the project and staff training.
Laura Flores
“It’s the first activity of this soft part of the project, which involves staff training, professional development, curriculum, testing and certification, and policy development for TVET.”
“The purpose is basically to sensitize or make aware to the different stake holders where we are going with the project and how they can best provide input to the development of the TVET project.”
Flores says throughout the year, they have had opportunities to go into the districts and meet with the parties involved in the development of the training centres. Jacqueline Woods reporting for News 5.
