Gunmen Sought Revenge for Tyrone Stevens at Eric Mendez’s Home
Two persons are tonight in police custody pending further investigation into a shooting in the Jane Usher Boulevard area of Belize City. Police say that on Monday night, at least one gunman opened fire on the residence of Eric Mendez, a nineteen-year-old who was remanded that same day for the shooting of Tyrone Stevens over the weekend. Believed to be an act of retaliation, police say that two bullets made their mark on the house. Fortunately, no one was injured in the shooting.

“On Monday, the seventh of May, sometime after eight-thirty p.m. police responded to shots being fired in the Jane Usher Boulevard area. And as a result they visited number 114 corner Jane Usher and Tamarind Street where they spoke to a female by the name of Shari Mendez, who informed the police that while she was inside of her house, she heard several shots being fired. Upon inspection of the house, she noticed that the house had two bullet holes at the front of the house. So far, police has detained one person in regards to this incident.”

“Is this Mendez related with the Mendez who was charged for the shooting in that very same area?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“Yes, he’s a member of that family there and he resides at that location.”
Reporter
“Are we to conclude then that it is directly related?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“It can be related that it is a possible retaliation to the shooting of Mister Stevens.”
