Security Guard Shot in Home Invasion
A fifty-year-old security guard is tonight recovering at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital following a frightening home invasion in the Jane Usher Boulevard area of Belize City. Around one o’clock this morning, as Merrick Lambey slept on a sofa inside his house on Curl Thompson Street, he was awoken by a knock at the door. Even before he could respond, a gunman was inside the house and within minutes opened fired on him; he was hit to both legs and right arm. Some residents say they heard up to five blasts before realizing that someone had been shot. Lambey was rushed to the hospital where he remains in a stable condition. During the police briefing today, Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo says a motive for the shooting has not been established.

As a result, he suffered several gunshot injuries to his right foot and his left foot and to his right elbow. He is presently admitted in a stable condition at this moment.
