Toledo Alcalde injured in machete attack
A man from the Toledo District is at the K.H.M.H. tonight recovering from chop wounds he received over the weekend. According to the victim, forty-two year old village Alcalde, Juan Kib, the reason for the attack was a stolen bicycle.

“The Alcalde take away the bicycle from him and he give he give it to the owner of the bicycle. I think that’s why they chop the Alcalde, it’s because he hold the bicycle. The Alcalde noh got no problem, he is not the one that is stealing. It’s the person who steal, he get vex on the Alcalde because he take away the bicycle.”
“On Saturday night, around 3 o’clock in the morning, a man reach at his house and he climb on top of the wall and the pass on top of the wall and jump into his house. And while he is sliding down on the ground, the man gone and chop him from where he is sleeping. And the he says that he roll down and he was trying to hide himself from the man.”

“It was a machete that he was using. He said he just feel like a stick drop down on his head, because he no see it, he di sleep.”
“When the man chop him he shout, and the wife wake up and the daughter also. The wife said that man is there killing his husband, so he jump onto the man to make him take away the machete from the man. But when the daughter see that they are fighting in their house, the daughter gone and pull a machete and with that machete chop that man that is killing her father. So he throw the machete down and the flashlight also. After he done throw the flashlight and the machete, the wife hold the man that is killing them and the Alcalde gone outside and report, but he can’t walk because he is bleeding too much blood.”

“At the same time, because the wife of the Alcalde get cut also on the head, and the daughter get cut also. The three of them get cut. When the daughter the chop the man, that man gone on top of the daughter, that’s why the Alcalde gone outside, so if the daughter shouldn’t come they could have killed the Alcalde. That’s why he left the Alcalde and gone and chop the daughter of the Alcalde, that’s why the daughter get chopped also.”
The attacker of the Kib family has been identified as twenty-year-old Juan Carlos Suchite Ramirez. Police sources tell News 5 that Suchite is a Guatemalan citizen who visits San Vicente frequently. Immediately following this incident he made his way back across the border and has not been seen in Belize since.
