Abandoned House Afire in Western Paradise
The third fire occurred in the Eight Miles Community on the George Price Highway. What residents say was an abandoned wooden house, made from pimenta sticks, went up in flames on Sunday afternoon. The owner has not come forward and the Fire Department says that the structure could not have been saved.
Orin Smith, Station Manager, National Fire Service
“On Sunday, thirteenth May, at approximately, 5:36 p.m., National Fire Service received and responded to a structural fire at the Eight Miles Community. On arrival on scene, there found was a pimenta structure bungalow approximately like twenty by twenty-four feet in size with zinc roofing fully engulfed in flames. That structure was destroyed as a result of the fire. Investigation has not determined the cause, I’m afraid. So that fire is determined as undetermined.”

“Anyone occupied that structure because we’ve been able to gather that it was abandoned but yet it has electricity inside?”
Orin Smith
“We understand that it had electricity yes, but there were no occupied inside at the time the fire occurred.”
