Another Ladyville Home Ablaze over Weekend

Orin Smith

Less than twenty-four hours later, there was yet another fire in Ladyville, also on Manta Ray Boulevard for which a family of two has been displaced. A single mother and her son occupied the house, but were not at home at the time of the blaze. Orin Smith of the Fire Department confirms that the fire started in two different spots in the house.

Orin Smith, Station Manager, National Fire Service

“At approximately 18:27, the Ladyville branch again received and responded to a call of a structural fire on Manta Ray Boulevard, Vista Del Mar, Ladyville, Belize District. On arrival on scene, found was a bungalow wooden structure with heavy rains and smoke coming from the south west of the structure and the north east of the structure. Following a brief size up, the fire was later brought under control and extinguished. The structure received extensive damage to the hallway and a room. Preliminary investigation reveal multiple points of origin; both non-connected—two separate fires. The fire is determined as incendiary; it is unknown at this time whether the structure is insured. We have not spoken with anyone associated with either of these fires as yet.”
