Just before ten p.m. on Saturday, a robbery at a restaurant in Belmopan led to a vehicle chase involving police and the robbers. That pursuit quickly escalated to a shootout, but unfortunately the robbers still got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry. According to police, three men, one wearing a masked entered a restaurant in the area and robbed the owner of his money and personal belongings before they fled in a Ford Escape SUV. A police patrol was hot on their trail but the perpetrators would evade the officers before abandoning the getaway car in an isolated area of Cotton Tree Village.
