Arson Confirmed, but Bruce Davidson Still Missing
There is another case that police are trying to crack and they are not getting any help from the results of an autopsy conducted on charred remains of a human body, discovered after a fire in Belmopan. Those results are inconclusive on the cause of death and the identity of the person also remains unknown. But it is suspected that the remains are that of British national Bruce Davidson, who is the owner of the wooden and zinc structure that was set ablaze sometime between eleven a.m. and twelve-thirty p.m. on Tuesday. When fire officials responded to reports of a brushfire on Jordan Ranch Road, off the George Price Highway, the burnt remains of a man were found. Foul play is suspected because Davidson is nowhere to be found and his vehicle and dogs are also missing. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett says that samples of human tissue were extracted for DNA sampling.
ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch
“Police responded to an area on the Banana Bank Road opposite the Belmopan airstrip where upon arrival they were briefed by Fire Department personnel that they were called to the scene of a fire on 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the fifteenth of May. And sometime later in the evening around five p.m. while sifting through the rubble, they came across human remains in the rubble. As a result the police were called, the scene was processed and on yesterday’s date, the scene was visited by the forensic pathologist. Thereafter the remains were taken to the Western Regional Hospital where a postmortem was conducted for which the cause was undetermined due to charged bones.”

“Sir has the identity of this particular victim been established as yet?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“No not so far, but we know that the premises was occupied by one Bruce Davidson, a British national.”
Reporter
“Is he missing or accounted for?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Yes, he has not been found.”
Duane Moody
“Mister Bruce apparently had two dogs and a silver in color pickup truck. Has any of those been discovered or found? Is it believed that it was a robbery or murder covered by this arson that took place?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Well up to date, I know for certain that the pickup truck hasn’t been found and the police remain on the ground conducting their investigation within that area.”
Duane Moody
“Is it being treated as a murder sir?”
ACP Joseph Myvett
“Well we are working with fire personnel and the preliminary verbal report that we got from the Fire Department is that they suspect that the cause of the burning down of the building was arson.”
