Mom with ‘Split Personality’ Now Missing for a Week

Sharon Ferguson

Tonight a family is worried as their mother and partner has been missing for a week. The last anyone saw of Sharon Ferguson, she had left her home following an argument and has not been heard from since. Ferguson is of Creole descent, has two missing front teeth and stands about five feet six inches tall. But most importantly, she suffers from a severe personality disorder that may cause her to be taken advantage of. Her family visited News Five this afternoon to make a plea for her to return home.

“She suffers from what’s known as dissociative identity disorder – something similar to a split personality, but not as bad. It’s caused by stress usually, and due to some stress recently, she disappeared a week ago. She probably felt she had reason, but the thing is we haven’t heard from her at all. It’s been a week; she hasn’t called about her children which is highly unusual. We’ve checked everybody that she knows – she doesn’t have many friends, but the few that she has we’ve checked – and nobody knows anything about her; they haven’t seen her since last Wednesday, anywhere in Belize. We’ve heard rumors that she might have gone up to Corozal to babysit an invalid child with an old lady she knows; the thing is, we’re not sure where in Corozal she might be, if that’s the case. The best we know is the lady’s name is ‘Miss Mal’ – I don’t have a last name. That’s why we’re asking you to help us now, because we want you to know that we love you and we’re worried, and if there is anything we’ve done to upset you, to cause this, we’re very sorry. Whatever you want to do – if you’re in your right mind, we’ll understand, but at least call us and let us know you’re okay.  We’re scared.”

Bennett made a missing person report this afternoon. If you have seen her or know her whereabouts, kindly contact the nearest police station or 663-7056, or 628-5090.
