Was Mom Run Over or Murdered in Silk Grass?
There is also a report of a fatal traffic accident in Silk Grass Village, Stann Creek District. Police say officers responded to an RTA between miles nine and ten on the Southern Highway and upon arrival; they observed the body of thirty-nine-year-old Rosita Requeña with head and body injuries. Requeña’s body was discovered by her daughter in bushes off the pavement several yards away from Brooks Restaurant. While police say she is the victim of a hit and run, the family believes otherwise. Jasmine Vasquez says she found her mother on Sunday morning around nine o’clock, but the position in which she was discovered leaves her to believe that she was murdered. The family also contends that a report has also surfaced which suggests that she was attacked and killed by a man with whom she was socializing on Saturday night. Vasquez spoke to News Five today about the incident.
Jasmine Vasquez, Daughter of Deceased
“In the morning I di go to my mom. When I got up, I got a feeling to go see my mom. I passed and I didn’t see her and when I di come back to my home, I see my mom in the middle of the bush. And I went off on the bike and I put my mom in my arms. And wah lady come and tell me, “Babe you got a dead body in your arms Get up from there. She tell me ants di eat you.” I tell her no, that is my mom. I think she was going to me because I live in Silk Grass. And it look like my mom got peel on her foot and thing, it look like my mom dehn beat her or kill her cause she dead straight. And if it was a crash, she was maybe dead far, but she dead straight. The police are saying that it is knock down but that don’t look like knock down. It looks like she was fighting for her life, but she couldn’t because I think there were two that catch them.”
