Daron Gonzalez Charged for Hopkins Murder-Arson

Police have arrested and charged twenty-one-year-old Daron Gonzalez for the crimes of arson and murder. Twenty-four-year-old Jorge Magana was killed over the weekend inside Flomon’s Guesthouse, which was then set on fire. But ACP Joseph Myvett today indicated that from their evidence, the arson was not because of the murder; the events were separate.

“Police continues to investigate the matter of the arson in Hopkins, and have arrested and charged [twenty-one-year-old] Daron Gonzalez for the crime of arson and the crime of murder since yesterday.”

“He was the roommate, he owned the apartment?”

“No, he was an associate of the deceased.”

“Initial reports had said how the two had a dispute; is it the understanding of police that he killed the man and then burned up the house…”

“No, that is not our understanding.”
