Britain awards postgrad scholarships to 4 Belizeans
The British High Commission has announced the recipients of this year’s Chevening Scholarships. The four Belizeans who will study in the United Kingdom include Marlon Allen, who will seek a Masters Degree in policing and social conflict at the University of Leicester. Eugene Palacio will do a M.B.A. at the University of Birmingham; Tanya Usher will study towards a Masters in Science Education at Leeds, while Merlene Neal will enrol in a Masters programme in Special Education Needs at Exeter. Each year the Chevening programme offers Belizeans a chance to obtain postgraduate degrees at Britain’s top universities on the condition that they will return to Belize and contribute to the nation’s development. Among present and former News 5 personnel to successfully complete the Chevening programme are Daedra Isaacs, Ann-Marie Williams and yours truly.
