Motor Stolen from Belcan Bridge

In related news, the City Council has confirmed information to our newsroom which suggests that the motor for the BelCan Bridge is missing. There were previous reports that parts for the motor had been stolen, but later returned. A little-known fact about the BelCan Bridge is that it too can be swung, but like its older counterpart, the Swing Bridge, it is usually only swung in times of emergency. City Councilor Micah Goodin condemned the theft in speaking to News Five on Saturday.

“I think that we have to condemn these sorts of things. It’s depriving a city that is financially strapped, a city that is trying to develop, trying to move [into] the twenty-first century; I think these are the things that will hold us back. I would want to condemn it publicly. And I would ask anyone who knew what happened to come out and take a stand, to let us know so that we can take the necessary actions against it.”

Police have indicated that the responsibility for an official report rests with the Ministry of Works.
